     Tennessee state law provides for property tax relief for low-income elderly and disabled homeowners, as well as disabled veteran homeowners or their surviving spouses.  Please visit our office for first time applications.  Taxpayers must re-qualify each year.  Below are the qualifications as listed by the State of Tennessee:

 

- Elderly:  Must be 65 or older.  You must own your home and reside in it as your primary residence.  Income limits apply.

Disabled:  Must be rated disabled by the Social Security Administration or other qualifying agency.  You must own your home and reside in it as your primary residence. Income limits apply.

Disabled Veterans/Disabled Veterans’ Widow(er)s:  Determination of eligibility for a homeowner who is a disabled veteran or widow(er) of a disabled veteran will be made based on information provided by the VA through use of consent forms.

·   When do I apply? You may apply in October with the beginning of the tax collection season. Taxes must be paid in full before the application can be submitted to the state.
